Bleeding Wall -- Reflection

I took this photograph on Creighton University's campus, one summer when I spent many of my lunch periods wandering around with my camera. I walked by this building on a Friday, and the building was there. It was a storage/technology shed for the SCOLA production facilities when they were housed by the great Father Lee Luebbers, who was a professor in the art department. The next Monday, I walked by, and the building was gone. This foundation was all that remained. There was a bit of material left behind -- perhaps a bit of carpeting, that had not been carried away. It was a deep red, like blood; from a distance it looked to me like the wall was bleeding from the violent vivisection that it received over the weekend. The poem was easy to write from there.

Reflection Points: This PhotoSinryu invites us to think about permanency. What do you think is the most permanent person, place, or thing in your life, something you think will never change? What would you do if that person, place, or thing went away overnight? What changes might you make in your life to prepare yourself for these surprises?
